Chef Martin Yan and the Yan Can Cook Group are consultants to the food manufacturing, foodservice and hospitality industries, specializing in Chinese and Asian cuisines.
Chef Yan’s professional experience and training make him uniquely qualified as a food consultant, culinary educator, and television and radio personality on both sides of the Pacific.
He began his illustrious career as a chef’s apprentice in Hong Kong and China and, after cooking in restaurants throughout Asia and North America, went on to receive certification as a Master Chinese Chef from the Ontario Restaurant Association. He holds a Master’s degree in food science from the University of California at Davis and an honorary Doctorate from Johnson and Wales University.
Chef Yan is best known to television viewers worldwide as the host of the acclaimed Yan Can Cook show. Seen in more than 240 markets throughout the U.S. and internationally in more than 70 countries, Yan Can Cook is one of the world’s most watched cooking shows. The program has received two James Beard Awards for Best Cooking Show (1994) and Best Television Food Journalism (1996).
The author of ten best-selling cookbooks, Martin Yan is a frequent contributor to a wide variety of food publications, bringing a unique blend of food knowledge, expertise in Asian cultures and cuisines and spirited wit. He has lived and traveled extensively throughout Asia and speaks several Chinese dialects.
