BUTCH HARMON
GOLF TEACHER
Butch Harmon has been involved in the golf arena for over 30 years. His father, Claude Harmon, a renowned club and teaching professional and 1948 masters Champion, introduced him to the game.
Harmon followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming an accomplished player on the PGA Tour in the early 1970’s. In 1971, his final year on the PGA Tour, Harmon won the B.C. Open.
Harmon has worked at various golf clubs worldwide since 9164 as an Assistant Pro, Director of Golf and Head Pro, all which included conducting golf clinics and individual lessons for many men, women, and junior golfers. From 1972 through 1974, Harmon was employed by his Royal Majesty King Hassan, II of Morocco as his private golf instructor.
Currently, Harmon is the Director of Golf at Rio Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, Managing Director at the Harmon School of Golf in Houston and travels around the country playing in corporate and charity golf outings where he often includes a unique trick shot exhibition. Prior to Rio Secco, Harmon was the Golf Director at Lochinvar Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
In 1996, Harmon was a lead golf analyst of British Sky Broadcasting which covered the Masters, U.S. Open, PGA Championship and TOUR Championship. Additionally, Harmon has been a teaching instructor to several PGA Tour pros, including, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, Greg Norman, Steve Elkington and Mark Calcavecchia.
Harmon’s exceptional work with his students, the Tour Professionals and of course the World’s Top Amateur, Tiger Woods, led to his being named Sports Illustrated Teach of the Year in 1995. As Sports Illustrated stated: “Butch Harmon is the hottest teacher in golf.
