TAKERU KOBAYASHI
“THE GREATEST COMPETITIVE EATER”
Kobayashi continued to dominate the sport of competitive eating in 2004, once again obliterating the competition in Coney Island by eating 53.5 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes and 69 Krystal hamburgers in 8 minutes. He has scheduled several additional visits to the United States in upcoming months, sending shock waves through the eating community.
Kobayashi is unquestionably the greatest competitive eater in IFOCE history and the finest athlete of our time. He holds dozens of records worldwide, and has never been defeated before in IFOCE competition. He was such an overwhelming favorite in hot dogs in 2004 that sportsbooks had him starting the event with a handicap of minus 20 hot dogs. To no one’s surprise, Kobayashi achieved another major U.S. win, following his break-out performance at the Glutton Bowl on the Fox Network.
Kobayashi lives with his girlfriend in Nagano, Japan, where he is one of the city’s most recognizable stars.
