Dr. Carl A. Hammerschlag, is a master storyteller and internationally recognized author, physician, speaker and healer. A Yale-trained psychiatrist, he has spent more than twenty years working with Native Americans. For fourteen of those years, he was chief of psychiatry at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
Now one of the world’s leading proponents of the practical applications of the new science of Psychoneuroimmunology (mind/body/spirit/connection), he is a faculty member at the University of Arizona Medical School and an advisory board member to Shape magazine.
Dr. Hammerschlag’s life work has been chronicled in three critically acclaimed books. The Dancing Healers was published by Harper Collins in 1988 and has been adapted as a four-part dramatic mini-series for television. His second book, The Theft of the Spirit, was published by Simon & Schuster in 1993, and his most recent book, Healing Ceremonies, was published by the Putnam Group in 1997.
In addition to private practice and writing, he now spends 80% of his time on the speaking platform. The size of his audience typically ranges from 20 to 8,000 people, and his topics and programs vary in length and design to meet your needs. Diverse and multicultural audiences are his special strength. He has delivered speeches worldwide and consistently receives rave reviews.
